A Japanese family business with 50 years of soroban education
Morita Group was founded by the Morita family in 1976 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Since 2022, we have been bringing the same method to Hanoi as Kodomo Soroban Center (KSC).

Half a century of soroban education in Japan
Today, Morita Group is a three-generation family business running about 90 soroban and calligraphy locations in Aichi and Shizuoka prefectures under the “Kodomo School” brand, teaching children the same method we have brought to Hanoi.
We did not arrive with a large budget. We arrived with a family, a method and patience, and we have built our presence in Hanoi one school at a time.
Proven over generations
A step-by-step curriculum refined over 50 years with thousands of Japanese children, from the very first beads to fast mental calculation.
Japanese certification
Level 1 and Level 2 certificates are issued together with the Association for the Promotion of Traditional Regional Education, a Japanese soroban organization.
A family business with a long-term view
Founded by the first generation of the Morita family. Today the second generation runs the business in Japan, and the third generation works in Hanoi.
From Japan to Hanoi, step by step
Every lesson at a partner school is taught by a KSC instructor, with KSC’s curriculum and materials. We chose to grow slowly rather than compromise on how we teach.

The KSC team
A Vietnamese team takes care of teaching and of our relationships with schools and parents, together with a Japanese soroban expert based in Hanoi.
Vietnamese instructors
Trained in the Japanese method, they teach in Vietnamese at the center and at partner schools. New instructors start as teaching assistants in existing clubs before leading classes of their own.
Japanese soroban expert
An academic advisor based in Hanoi who reviews the curriculum and observes classes.
The founding family
The third generation of the Morita family has lived in Hanoi since 2022 and is directly responsible for operations in Vietnam.
How we ensure quality in every class
Regular checks
Children are checked at the start, middle and end of each term, so every child’s progress is visible and no one is left behind.
Two-step support
The instructor gives extra help during class, then assigns additional practice at home and follows up in the next lesson.
Instructor standards
Instructors complete KSC’s training and are observed in class before they lead a class on their own.
Japanese expertise on site
A Japanese soroban expert living in Hanoi reviews the curriculum and observes classes.
Recognized in Vietnam and Japan
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has licensed the center to provide skills-development classes (Decision No. 1031/QĐ-SGDĐT, 8 June 2023).
EDU-Port Nippon is a public-private platform led by MEXT, Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, to share Japanese-style education with the world. KSC’s Soroban Club program in Hanoi was reviewed and selected as a supported project for 2026 and 2027.

Our mission
In Japan, “reading, writing and soroban” has long been the foundation that generations of children learn from an early age.
We hope that more and more children in Vietnam can learn soroban the true Japanese way: focus, mental calculation and confidence with numbers, together with good learning habits. Every new class must meet the same standard as the first.
